On September 28 I departed for Togo in West Africa, arriving three days later, September 30. On October 2 we began a conference attended by over 200 participants from the countries of West and Central Africa. It was encouraging to see old friends I have known for 40 years as well as to meet and make many new friends. We spent two weeks looking at what are the major needs of this region and what are things we can do to respond to those needs. We also had the opportunity to participate in a University of the Nations graduation ceremony for two African students receiving an Associate’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree. I met with a group from the Ivory Coast, the place where I opened our first training center in 1976. What a joy to see so many from there.
