After teaching the seminar at Surfing the Nations, I returned home to Kona for 3 days until I flew over again to Honolulu, but this time with Judi, as she prepared to have total knee replacement surgery at the Kaiser Hospital there. Following surgery, Judi spent one night in the hospital, then we flew back to Kona to begin Judi’s recovery from her surgery. Over the next month, Judi progressed with physiotherapy from using a walker to using a cane. I became her caregiver, cooking, doing dishes, laundry and cleaning.
